Background Information:
The current Church Board of Deacons members are:
1. Hany Hannah
2. Emad Maximous
3. Mofid Khalil
4. Sameh Awad
5. Maged Khalil
6. Magdy Meleka
The composition of the New to-be-elected Church Board of Deacons:
1. The New Church Board shall be made up of six (6) members plus Abouna Antonius as the Board President. The six (6) members shall be:
a. Two (2) Men Appointed from current Church Board.
b. Two (2) Men to be Elected
c. One (1) Woman to be Elected
d. One (1) youth (25-35 yrs. of age) to be Elected
Round 1 of 2: Board Members NOMINATIONS, Sun. Dec. 18th, 2016
1. Voting shall be done on a folded NOMINATION FORM that will be distributed to and filled-in by the attending Church Members – 18 yrs. of age or older on the day of Nominations (Dec 18th, 2016).
2. Every Church Member shall fill-in the top identification part of the form with her/his NAME, PHONE #, and SIGNATURE. Then she/he will fill-in the Table below the identification part. The Table has 6 rows to write the names of:
i. Four male Nominees
ii. One woman Nominee
iii. One youth (25-35 yrs of age) Nominee
3. Do not nominate any member from the current Board of Deacons (see names above). Also, do not nominate relatives of Abouna Antonius Samaan (Church Rules)
4. The maximum number of nominations is six (6). If you fill-in the FORM with more than 6 nominees’ names or if you do not fill in the NAME or SIGNATURE your voting form will be disqualified.
5. Every Church Member after completing filling-in the NOMINATION FORM shall fold it back so that the identification top part is exposed and the lower Nominees Selection part is concealed/not exposed. Then the Church Member shall hand in her/his form to a Volunteer at the front of the church in front of the Alter who will take the folded form, verify the only-exposed name and signature part, cut and keep the this part and drop the folded unexposed lower part of the form containing the nominees selection in the election box beside the Volunteer in front of everybody present.
6. After the completion of the voting and collection of all filled forms, Volunteers will then go to the main Alter, open the election box and count the votes given to the selected different Nominees.
7. Any nominated name with 7 votes or more will be included in a Short List of Nominees that will be advertised on the Church Bulletin Board right after counting. Nominated names shall be listed in descending order of number of votes gotten.
8. Then, a two week period will be allowed so that any Church Member(s) who has an objection to the appointment of any of the Nominees in the advertised Short List, could send her/his objection in writing directly to H.G. Anba Mina by e-mail ([email protected]). H.G. Anba Mina shall investigate the objection and make a decision to accept it or to reject it. In the case of an accepted rejection, the name of the relevant Nominee shall be removed from the short list.
9. Any Nominee in the advertised Short List who does not wish to go ahead with her/his nomination for the Church Board, should inform Abouna Antonius in writing by e-mail ([email protected]) with her/his desire to remove her/his name from the Short List of Nominees.
10. After the two week period, and after investigating the objections, if any, a revised FINAL APPROVED SHORT LIST OF NOMINEES shall be advertised on the Church Bulletin Board ready for the second and final round of elections to select the New Members of the Church Board.
Round 2 of 2: Final ELECTION of Church Board Members, Sun. Jan. 15th, 2017
1. Final voting shall be done on an ELECTION FORM that will be distributed to and filled-in by the attending Church Members – 18 yrs. of age or older on the day of the Final Elections (Jan. 15th, 2017).
2. Similar to Stage (1), every Church Member shall fill-in the top identification part of the form with her/his NAME, PHONE #, and SIGNATURE. Then she/he shall fill-in the Table below the identification portion. The Table has four (4) rows to fill-in with names from the FINAL APPROVED SHORT LIST OF NOMINEES (copy will be distributed with the ELECTION FORM) of:
i. Two Men Candidates for Church Board Members
ii. One Woman Candidate for Church Board Member
iii. One youth (25-35 yrs. of age) Candidate for Church Board Member
3. Your selection of nominees should ONLY be from the names in the FINAL APPROVED SHORT LIST OF NOMINEES. Filling-in the Form with any name or names from outside of this List will default your Voting Form.
4. The maximum number of candidates on the form is four (4). Filling-in the FORM with more than 4 nominees or not filling in the NAME or SIGNATURE will default the voting form.
5. Similar to Stage (1), every Church Member after completing filling-in the ELECTION FORM shall fold it back so that the identification top part is exposed and the lower Candidates Selection part is concealed/not exposed. The Church Member shall hand in her/his Form to a Volunteer at the front of the church in front of the Alter who will take the folded Form, verify the only-exposed name and signature part, cut and keep this identification part and drop the folded unexposed lower part of the form containing the candidates selection in the election box beside the Volunteer in front of everybody present.
6. Similar to Stage (1), after the completion of the voting and collection of all filled Forms, Volunteers will then go to the main Alter, open the election box and count the votes given to the selected different Candidates.
New ELECTED Church Board of Deacons/Directors:
1. The two men with the highest number of votes among men candidates shall be appointed as new members of the Church Board
2. The woman with the highest number of votes among women candidates shall be appointed as a new member of the Church Board.
3. The youth (25-35 yrs. Of age) with the highest number of votes among youth nominees shall be appointed as a new member of the Church Board.
4. The appointed two men selected from the current Board will be added to the above elected four (4) members making the new 6-member 2017 Church Board of Deacons/Directors.
