A Journey with Virgin Mary

A Journey with Virgin Mary

Virgin Mary, the pure mother of God, my mother, allow me to go on a journey with your holiness. Since you were born you were a promise from God to Hannah, your mother and Joachim your father. I would even say you were meant to come from the tribe of Judah, according to the flesh. You were born not of the sons of Aaron the priest so that through you comes our greatest priest according to the order of Melchizedek, for both were not related to the tribe of Levi. You fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies” Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel” ( Isaiah 7:14)…. ” For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this” ( Isaiah 9:6,7). And about your virginity, Ezekiel prophesied saying” Then He brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary which faces toward the east, but it was shut. And the Lord said to me, “This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter by it, because the Lord God of Israel has entered by it; therefore it shall be shut” ( Ezekiel 44:1,2). Plenty of time and pages are needed to mention Old Testament prophecies, psalms and events that refer to you, O full of grace. Then I follow your steps while you were offered and consecrated to the Lord. What would have been your feelings as a three years old entering the temple and not getting out until puberty?! You were surrounded by a lot of worship to the great Jehovah, the sacrifices, hymns, priesthood, Levites, and rituals. How did you feel leaving your mother and father to accompany Hannah the prophetess and Simon the old priest?! Watching the kids coming in to the temple happily with their parents and longing to see yours only once a year… I think about you as Samuel the prophet” But Samuel ministered before the Lord, even as a child, wearing a linen ephod. Moreover his mother used to make him a little robe, and bring it to him year by year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice” ( 1 Samuel 2:18,19). Did you wait from year to year for the feast’s new clothes that your kind mother brought to you? I am certain that the Lord filled your small being. The Lord trained your soul to bear the sword that would later go through your soul on your way to Golgotha. You heard it from Simon the prophet” yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” ( Luke 2:35)….” But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart” ( Luke 2:19). Perhaps the Lord was preparing your tender heart to bear the birth of your divine Son in a manger with His back lying on the hay and coarse straw, preparing for you to see His back lying on the cross. Then what about becoming an orphan at this young age, then your engagement to Joseph and you were still a young girl?!… How didn’t you object to or refuse anything?! It was the power of your total submission to the Lord… Now I understand the power of your reply to angel Gabriel’s announcement to you” Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” ( Luke 1:38)…. Your silence and submission amazes me… How didn’t you tell your fiancé about the angel’s announcement to you?! How didn’t you ask angel Gabriel to reveal this divine annunciation to Joseph?! Why didn’t you mention to angel Gabriel the risks and dangers of a virgin’s pregnancy?! Didn’t you know that it might have lead you to be stoned according to the law of Moses ?! We read in the chapter of Song of Songs” A garden enclosed Is my sister, my spouse, A spring shut up, A fountain sealed” ( Song of Solomon 4:12)…. I held my breath watching Joseph realizing that you were pregnant, wondering what to do?! ” Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly” ( Matthew 1:19). My Lord, I caught my breath! what would she have done if he would had let her go; she didn’t have a family?! Finally, I thanked and worshiped God for His goodness, mercy, love and care to those who depend on Him” ( Proverbs 3:5)….” But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit” ( Matthew 1:20). Mother, how wasn’t satan able to penetrate the sacred fence of your thoughts, to cast doubt in all what was happening when it was time to give birth and you couldn’t find a place but a manger in a barn, surrounded by animals to give birth?! Yet, I could imagine the strong faith in your soul that awaited the Lord. Shortly after, the shepherds and the wise men showed up kneeling in front of the King of the Jews and offering Him gifts. How great is your humble soul, that submitted to all what the Lord had said. Behold, the Lord had ordered Joseph to flee to Egypt , going on a hard rough trip to a country that worshipped idols” Behold, the Lord rides on a swift cloud, And will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst” ( Isaiah 19:1). Now I understand what you’ve ordered the servants at the wedding of Cana of Galilee to do “Whatever He says to you, do it.” ( John 2:5). Here, I stop for a little to meet you at Golgotha, O pure virgin, asking for your prayers and Intercession, so until we meet again.
