” Walk humbly with your God ” ( Micah 6:8)

,
” Walk humbly with your God ” ( Micah 6:8)

In a previous article we had started to look at the verse in the book of the prophet Micah which
says” He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do
justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” ( Micah 6:8), and now we focus on
humility before the Lord our God.
+ Walk
When we talk about our relationship with God, we focus on behavior and deeds, with the practical orientation of the human being towards the Lord. The Bible teaches us to manifest our love towards God not by words, neither by tongue but by” My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth” ( 1 John 3:18). Some of us might wonder how?! The psalm answers” Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name” ( Psalm 86:11), and God replies” I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye” ( Psalm 32:8). Walking in the Lord’s path happens through the
light of the Word” Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance” ( Psalm 89:15), ” For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light” ( Ephesians 5:8). My beloved, the Holy Bible is a lamp for our feet and a light for our path, let us hang on to the word and walk in submission to the Lord according to the commandments of the Lord.
It is dangerous to be a religious hypocrite. Religious practices alone do not please God, but the Lord looks at the heart” I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” ( Galatians 5:16). Let us walk according to the spirit and honesty with God and the spirit at church, home or with others. Practicing faith in our daily lives is essential, transferring us instantly to the spiritual field where we meet the Lord” For we walk by faith, not by sight” ( 2 Corinthians 5:7), and beware of the stubbornness of the heart against the commandment of God and the Holy Spirit, either in hearing the word, events that surround us or in our inner conscience, because insisting on the stubbornness of the heart will lead us to cruelty and it is the most dangerous thing, making it almost impossible for the person to return and repent” So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, To walk in their own counsels” ( Psalm 81:12). And do not think my brethren that you can hold the stick from the middle, living for the world and the Lord at the same time , walking with a divided heart. Let us hear the commandment of the Book to us” And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” ( Romans 12:2).
The most wonderful thing about Christianity is that it is not a collection of teachings and principles to be followed by Christians on the basis of which they will be held accountable, rather Christianity is the person of Christ Himself, from Him, in Him and to Him is everything”As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” ( Colossians 2:6).
+ Humbly with the Lord
Perhaps the most important thing that the Lord Jesus draws our attention to is meekness and
humility” Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls” ( Matthew 11:29), manifested in the Lord humbling Himself” who,
being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” ( Philippians 2:6-8).
The question is how to follow the footsteps of the Lord regarding humbleness ?! Here my
beloved, we have to understand that humbleness pertains to the Lord, for He is the high, exalted over all the heavenly and earthly and His glory fills the heavens and the earth. God coming as a servant in the likeness of man is the real humbleness of the unlimited glory, but when we talk about human humility we can not compare it to God’s humbleness but to the reality of a slave’s life. If dirt wanted to descend and be humbled, where would it go?!
So humility for us is to know that we are sinful dust, and that the smallest virus can invade us and put us in bed and may even kill us. We must know that everything good in us is from God. And now let us hear the voice of the Lord in the Holy Book on how. The first thing the Lord asked from His disciples to take the path of humility is to have the heart of a child in it’s meekness, when they thought who was the greatest amongst themselves. The Lord brought
Boy in their midst and said to them” Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the
greatest in the kingdom of heaven” ( Matthew 18:4).
We are humbled in prayer, in obedience to the Word of God and in service at church, serving the poor, giving, fasting and worship of our living God, there is one rule in the Book which is “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up” ( James 4:10),,, ” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” ( 1 Peter. 5:6). Saint Paul has given us a perfect example on how to serve the Lord” serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews” ( Acts 20:19). Also to follow the footsteps of saints in the Bible who lived among us. The Book invites
us clearly to do so” Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion” ( Romans 12:16).
